Staycations: spending a night in a nice hotel in my own city
My weekends are fairly dull; I rarely do much after church. It’s usually the same routine… get in from church, make a cuppa and surf the web. Although last Sunday I spent my night in Midtown; no not in NYC (only one can dream right?) Nope I’m talking about the newly proclaimed Midtown in Holborn at The Hoxton, Holborn. On entering the hotel the welcoming lobby had a subtle atmosphere where locals and friends were huddled chatting, drinking and engrossed on their laptops.
“Bliss” is probably the only word that came to mind as I checked in and made my way to my room. I don’t think there are many words to describe how lush the interior is, the vintage touches seemed to have been carefully thought through – from the old books, Roberts classic radio down to the bespoke wallpaper that has been inspired by the local area, I can honestly say I want my room to look like this.
I’m a big fan of Chicken Shop so I was extremely eager to get some rotisserie chicken down in the basement but sadly it was closed so I ordered room service from Hubbard and Bell, which is situated in the lovely lobby.
The staff, were so really friendly as well which always helps as I always have 101 questions.
If you're up for a mini pampering session you should check out Cheeky Nails, they’re also on the ground floor in the lobby.
Don’t forget to fill out your breaky bag and hang it outside the door for your free breakfast in the morning – great way to start your stay I tell ya! I know I will be back here soon…
